Compare the three vignette validity periods and understand exactly what each one covers.

The 2-month vignette covers two full calendar months. It is the middle option, suited to extended stays, seasonal workers, or travellers spending several weeks in Austria. The validity period begins on the first day of the selected month.
If you plan to drive on Austrian motorways on more than 3 separate occasions over 2 months, the 2-month vignette is more cost-effective than purchasing multiple 10-day vignettes.
The annual vignette provides the best per-day value for frequent motorway users. It is valid from 1 December of the year before purchase through 31 January of the following year — a total of approximately 14 months. This generous overlap period means you can buy early without losing coverage.
At €96.40 for ~14 months, the daily rate is approximately €0.22. By comparison, the 10-day vignette costs €0.99/day. If you use Austrian motorways more than 10 days per year, the annual vignette saves money.
The vignette does not cover the following roads, which have separate tolls:
| Road/Tunnel | Type | Approx. Toll (car) |
|---|---|---|
| Brenner Motorway (A13) | Section toll | €9.50 one way |
| Tauern Motorway (A10) | Section toll | €13.50 one way |
| Arlberg Road Tunnel | Tunnel toll | €11.00 one way |
| Karawanken Tunnel (A11) | Tunnel toll | €8.50 one way |
| Pyhrn Motorway (A9) | Section toll | €9.00 one way |
| Grossglockner High Alpine Road | Scenic road toll | €38.00 per car |
